February 5, 2022 - Opened, but not decanted for more than 45 minutes before pouring at a NYC Steakhouse. My wine group had this alongside a 1997 Le Pergola Torte. While the six of us all preferred the Pergola Torte, this was very enjoyable. It is a big, full bodied wine, with a long finish. Some notes of blue fruit on the nose. It went very well with my steak.

March 5, 2021 - PnP. Not to my personal taste, but it was also the first bottle, among many that were open, to be emptied. Quite a feat as the others were mere 750ml. It's dark though not brooding, it's rich though not bombastic. Fans of the style should be amply rewarded if they can find some in the market. Likely to drink at this level, perhaps including additional complexity, for another decade. For the style, it's highly recommended

March 28, 2018 - From magnum (of course) Beautiful luscious nose of dark berries, amarena cherry, exotic spices, incense and subtle minerality. On the palate it is full and balanced with velvety texture, great power and depth, and with a long sensuous finish.Truly irresistible, this is a sophisticated and hedonistic wine.Killer juice.

June 11, 2017 - Glass: Riedel Vinum Syrah
From a 0,75 vendor sample bottle, drunk over 3 days.
Clear, deep purple-ruby youthful color. Clean, medium (+) intense, youthful nose. Lots of fruit (ripe plum, cassis and gooseberry (don’t know why…)) as well as herbs and spices. Very fine and elegant, cool climate.
Dry, medium (+) acidity, that buffers the high alcohol (14 deg. abv.) mostly well. The medium+ tannin is very fine, silky and velvety, never had that before in a Caberlot. Medium+ -> full bodied with lovely medium+ flavor intensity, still driven by primary aromas: Cherries, Cassis, plum, infused by a wonderful spiciness (pepper, herbs, salt) and crushed stones. Some interesting bitterness (Campari bitter orange) on the long finish. This wine is certainly still a teenager, but wonderful and joyful to drink now. Complex, good tension and multi-dimensional. Only critic is maybe the high amount of alcohol that shines through. Has years and years of great development ahead and will drink nicely for the next 15+ years. At the moment 92-93 with potential to 95.
