    July 1, 2021 - Corvin pull earlier in the week for a side by side with 12 Coyote. Pulled the cork later in the week for a review. Dark garnet in coloring. Fairly muted on the nose. Tannins still prevalent even after ox. Drying on the palate. Dark cherry licorice. Holding next bottle a few more years.

    November 9, 2019 - Great. Gift from Bill and Donna

    March 15, 2019 - Immediately after opening (0-1 hours):
    * Lightness, yet body. Huge.
    * Fresh blackberry fruit on the nose.
    * Medium acidity
    * Mildly tannic, but not harsh.
    * Needs more time to open.

    With more time (3-5 hours):
    * Dark fruit – black currant, cassis
    * Oak influences coming through – somewhat temperature dependent.
    * Lower acidity
    * Chocolate souffle
    * Powerful
    * Reduced Calistoga fruit+acid profile from initial opening

    A very enjoyable, modern Napa cab. If you can find a bottle at a reasonable price, go for it. Otherwise, a Bevan or Carter may fit the bill at 130-210 a bottle (roughly half of what you may find this one for).

    94-95 pts.

    --- Update ---------
    2012 Coyote Ridge vs. 2012 Nash Creek:
    * Fruit+Palate: CR - This leans towards red fruit; NC – leans towards dark fruit + chocolate soufflé.
    * Aroma: CR – On open, way more interesting and floral. NC – Generally dark fruit with minimal evolution.
    * Oak: CR+NC – Both have heavy oak presences which increase over time.
    * Tannins: CR+NC both had present, but not overwhelming, tannins.
    * Acid: CR – Slightly higher acid overall. NC – Slightly lower acid. Both converged to similar acid after 5+ hours.
    * Alcohol: CR+NC - Both at 14.9%. Both were totally smooth with no overt signs of imbalanced alcohol.
    * Time Decay: Both CR+NC stablized after about 4-6 hours with oak ramping up and levity/nuance ramping down. Did not change significantly over the following 19 hours.
    * Temperature Variation: CR+NC – Benefited from being consumed on the cooler side to reduce effects of high abv + oak. Otherwise, no signficant effect, assuming a standard range.
    * Relative Value: CR vs. NC – Equivalent overall value
    * Absolute Value: CR vs. NC – Equivalently overpriced given comparable offerings from Bevan, Carter, Realm et al.
    * Packaging: The bottles themselves are amazingly well designed and look great ;)

    December 21, 2017 - Lovely complex long finish follows a brilliant concert of dark fruits on the front of the palate. All of this was preceded with a lovely nose including a floral bouquet and ripe fruit salad. Clearly enjoyed as did my guests. Opened at 11 poured one glass and let it breath in the magnum. Poured at event at 6:30. Wish our guests had left some behind for after but alas....... it was gone.

    December 4, 2016 - Had with dinner as final wine of the night. Opened magnum and decanted 7 hours prior to serving. Won the evening as "best of show" among the 6 wines poured. This was an outstanding wine and a joy to consume.
    The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis) and ripe dark berries, toast, medium toast and oak. It tastes like ripe dark fruit, black currant (cassis), oak, high toast and meaty. The body is full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has low acidity.
