Community Tasting Notes 5

February 25, 2007 - Not bad but nothing special. Very thin with no legs to speak of. Light reddish hue and a bit strong in the alcohol taste at first but that softens up with time. Very fruity and drank like a rose to me.

September 25, 2006 - Aroma: Blackberry and cassis with subtler essences of rose, violet, earth, and a certain dusty texture. Very nice, rich, and complex.
Flavor: Thick tannic structure, somewhat rosy on the tongue, with plenty of ripe cherry and strawberry flavor and accompanying sweetness on the palate; fairly long finish, particularly for a $15 Grenache (as opposed to a $50+ wine).
General impression: What a surprise! This wine is terrific; Patrick at LA Wine Co. is a stand-up guy for recommending this cheaper wine with all the other more expensive stuff he has in the store. It’s a delicious Grenache, but it’s also just a generally nice wine. It would be good during the autumn with a relatively hearty meal as opposed to summer fare and weather.

September 17, 2006 - Mouth full of fruit...strawberries, rasberries, hint of cherry...reminds me of a pinot noir but much smoother. Has a slight bitter aftertaste...similar to tequila. Overall, I like it! I would buy it again...hopefully around $15.

July 23, 2006 - This was enjoyable. Don't get your expectations too high and you'll likely enjoy it. Light, very fruity, NOT complex. The boss didn't like it at ALL.

June 8, 2006 - Prior to purchase, I knew nothing of this winery. The wine is being marketed as similar in style to a Spanish Grenacha which for me is a practically meaningless reference since I have had very few Spanish wines. The wine is dark strawberry in color. Pleasant aromatics. On the palate, this is somewhere between a Bandol rose and a youthful CDP. Strawberries, minerals and clove. Better on day 2 as it had shed some of its initial harshness. Didn't know what to expect and I must say I was pleasantly suprised, especially for $18. Given how light-bodied this is, I would probably serve this slightly chilled with a summer barbeque. Not going to knock your socks off, but a nice QPR.
