December 30, 2023 - Initial floral notes with more prominence of oak than the Starderi despite same time passage in barrique.

    November 30, 2023 - Slightly oxidized bottle.

May 9, 2022 - Medium garnet colored. Nice nose with ripe fruits, lots of earthy notes and some dried herbs. On the palate ripe cherries, dried raspberry, sweet tobacco and some exotic spices. Medium (+) bodied with a medium acidity. Great depth and complexity, but it feels a little out of balance. Acidity is a bit too low and tannins are a bit too dominant. Nice long and dry finish.
This is in a nice spot, just allow it to breathe for 1-2 hours. Drink now until 2030. (IG)

July 23, 2017 - Decanted. Typical Spinetta nose: very meaty, ripe, and expressive for a nebbiolo this young, with prominent notes of (over)ripe damsons, rhubarb compote, crushed raspberries, crystallised rose petals, sweet tea. Remains a little one-note in the glass, though there was an interesting element of oriental spice, perhaps impelled by the barrique treatment, that emerged. Composed on the palate: the fleshy core of fruit is opulent, and well supported by bittersweet and acid elements: there is damson, rhubarb, sour cherry, and a hint of liqueur. Herein lies the problem: the tannins are far too levigated for such a young Barbaresco. It does not quite taste right, and leaves something of a lacuna in the mid-palate. Though this is a relatively minor flaw, it is hard to forgive in view of the bottle's price and the reputation of the producer. Length is a tad short, too. Acidity lacking given the imposing body of the wine. Not good value, I'm afraid. Perhaps this will come together with a little more age. Right now, it's a tad disjointed.

December 17, 2015 - a bit an atypical showing of the Nebbiolo grape, a very interesting wine
