Soft and seamless dark cab fruit on the palate, pretty shy and soft and tamed. This could probably continue to age gracefully for another 10-20 years. Surprisingly impressive and integrated, but just no longer my style. Had a sip or two -- the rest went down pretty quickly amongst the cab/New World/big wine crowd.

  May 21, 2006 - Dark brick-tinged color off the pour. Profuse nose of black cherry fruit and menthol. Very nicely balanced with embracing tannins, but the menthol/eucalyptus properties are so pronounced that they obscure the rest of the wine. My brother found a six-pack in an end-of-bin sale somewhere for $9 a bottle, and that officially qualifies as the bargain of the year. Revised note: over the course of several hours the eucalyptus notes subsided somewhat and became more integrated. Still a very interesting and drinkable wine.
