January 8, 2014 - SnP, held since release. Medium straw, somewhat dull, with very slight CO2. Straightforward, typical aromas and flavors; simpler than I'd expected (read: hoped for). Correct in all facets, just uninspired. 8,0% abv, drink thru 2019

December 17, 2011 - Friday Night Blind Tasting (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.): I tasted this on the third day open and it was still going strong with honey and oil, slightly oxidized. Just a starter to get the palate ready for the real stuff.

April 23, 2009 - I had really hoped to be able to resist this bottle when I caught it in the corner of my eye while in the cellar - but the attraction was too strong. Enjoyed with a dish of Pad Thai. The wine is showing nicely at the moment, but has at least 15 years ahead of it. A brilliant acid backbone lets the sweet orchard fruits glide across the palate in a very refreshing, pleasing style. I think I'll open the others in 3+ years - this is a winner. Approx $25, 8% abv

March 14, 2007 - David Bowler Spring 2007 Portfolio Tasting (New York City): Light lemon color. Nose of sweet apples and complex minerality, with a touch of spice. On the palate it is mouthcoating with notes of pear.

8/1/2007 (link)(Monchhof "Slate" Spatlese) This is all Erdener Treppchen fruit and is in a great place now. Crystalline purity and nice sweet slatiness plus a wonderful dollop of botrytis that adds great energy to the midpalate. Acidity was phenomenal and much higher than I expected. Silky mouthfeel and wonderful precision.

8/28/2006 (link)(Monchhof Mosel "Slate") This is 100% Erdener Treppchen fruit. Powdery, slatey nose with nice ripeness. Palate is all blueberries and spice with a nice elegance and great length. Really mouthfilling with great texture.
