Community Tasting Notes 4

January 29, 2021 - DRC GE Lunch: Served blind, I guessed '14 Ramonet Chevalier Montrachet. Indeed a lot of the guesses at the table were Ramonet. For me it has the cleanliness and precision of a great Ramonet, some also noted a whiff of mint on the nose. This was the unanimous winner of the flight against a '10 PYCM CC and '12 Raveneau MdT, which of course were no slouches themselves. This is an excellent wine with tremendous depth, even opulence, but remains perfectly balance from start to finish.

September 26, 2020 - Lemon oil, viscous, some matchstick on the aroma and cracking mineral palate. Reminds me of the golden era of Leflaive Chevalier.

This is more tense and youthful than the last bottle, not as honeyed on the finish. If this is representative has a longer life ahead than I thought from prior bottle.

March 27, 2020 - This is legit. Has that magical hint of sweet honeyed finish of Montrachet, and a tense mineral spine. This is the kind of wine that I would hesitate reviewing so I coule get every available bottle - but there is none. Exquisite, serious, but drink sooner than later as this is well evolved and probably at peak.

July 16, 2019 - A stunning bottle, from the moment popper until the last sips more than 24 hours later. Aromas of tropical fruit, spice and ginger. Exotic flavors of tropical fruits, butter, spice and saline, with a faint thread of smokiness underneath. A strong acid backbone emerging on the mid-palate and intensifying from there, beautifully balancing the precise fruit notes. Expansive and persistent finish. This one shoots for the stars and pulls off that elusive matching of intense fruit and equally piercing acidity to impressive effect. We were blown away.
