Community Tasting Notes 12

January 30, 2017 - Pretty nose, but on the palate too much acid (and I love acid) made it more work than pleasure, even with food. Tasted over four days with no change.

January 16, 2017 - An excellent carignane that stands out for its combination of deep red and black fruit and cool-climate elegance. Nose has plum, sweet cherry, white pepper, and spice. Palate is silky smooth with poised balance. Fruit on the palate is cherry leaning towards kirsch with a touch of licorice starting to show. Tannic grip, acidity, and fruit are all nicely set off against each other. This is an easy to drink wine with a subtle, lingering, deep finish. Nice winter wine.

  • ScubaSommelier Does not like this wine: 80 points

January 16, 2017 - While usually a carignane fan, this wine didn't jive with me. While I don't think it was flawed, several characteristics were out of balance to me.

Almost had an effervescent feel in the mouth at first. A fair bit of sediment as well. The oak was too subtle for my liking.

December 16, 2016 - Deep dark mixed berries on the nose, blended powder full of texture with pepper and spice

August 18, 2016 - A bright and pleasant youthful wine. Lots of fruit on the nose and palate. Black fruit, plum, licorice, and ginger on the nose. Beautifully put together, this wine combines carignane's deep notes with an elegance that showcases the vineyard and the winemaker's talent. Very nicely done.
