Community Tasting Notes 5

October 6, 2023 - In the decanter 3 hours prior to drinking. Oak quite upfront this time around, but a classic McLaren Vale shiraz underneath. Nice wine. Still holding up strongly, drink over the next 5 years.

January 3, 2021 - A little bit of heat upon opening. Put in the decanter for 3 hours prior to drinking, drunk over the next 3 hours. Time helps, heat has disappeared. Young vibrant purple. A text book McLaren Vale Shiraz indeed, rich, ripe blue fruits, liquorice, dark chocolate and hints of vanilla oak, baking spices and touch of mocha. Long dry fine tannins, solid medium + plus. A lot going on here.

Strangely I wasn’t initially a fan but it really grew on me. No real tertiary notes yet, holding up well. Give another 18 months or so to continue to develop. This could be a cracker.

July 21, 2017 - On opening, this one will need a bit of time decanting. It's bright and sharp with cherry and bitter dark chocolate. It's garnet in colour ok but not world shattering. After 1 hour the chocolate and oak began to shine.

June 19, 2016 - Game of Rhones (Carriageworks, Redfern): funky and meaty (wild ferment), black fruits, cream, cedar…fruit is a little muted with some vanilla oak but lovely structure and balance
