June 7, 2020 - Tawny colour, fully developed clean pronounced nose.
The palate showed low tannins, medium body with a long finish.
Cigar, smoke, forest, cherry. an excellent wine with lots of life. a great shame there are so few bottles around.

August 22, 2019 - WOW! What a beauty. The cigar box, ash, leaf, leather, herb, and red berry filled nose instantly grabbed you. But the palate, with its display of sweet and tart red fruits, tobacco leaf and earthy nuances just kept on going. This is one of the top wines of the vintage.

July 21, 2017 - Third rendition of Avery Family Cellar Wine Dinner - Root day and '14 DRCs to the rescue! (Mirabelle restaurant, Washington D.C.): Expressive nose displaying cassis, fruit cake, tobacco, fruit cake, a hint of VA and Madeira that are distracting. Excellent concentration, intense dark fruit and fruit cake, bright acidity and the finish clips due to the oxidation.

February 24, 2017 - The Second Avery Family Cellar Wine Dinner - Really old wines (The Grill Room at the Rosewood DC): Beautiful mature claret nose displaying bright red fruit, strawberry, cedar, autumn leaves and mineral. Perfectly harmonious palate, soft yet bright and energetic, bright acidity, good mineral expression and a clean long bright red fruit driven finish. Not the most concentrated or complex but drinking beautifully showing good freshness and lovely balance.
