January 28, 2024 - Champagne and Burgundy evening (Private home in Arlington, Virginia): Coming after the 1996, I could not help but notice some hazelnut aspects that made the wine taste older than its vintage, but what retains a high score is the sheer energy on the palate. Given a small amount of leftover wine, I am sipping this again the morning after, and it is delicious. The color is dark straw, as compared to the light straw of the 1996, so noticeably more evolved, as is the nose, but the palate packs both richness and quite exciting energy, it lingers through to a long finish albeit still with toffee and hazelnut, again betraying its evolution. But I really liked its ample palate coating texture, honey nut, and baked apple - and lemon - pie. The bubbles are still smoothly present. Not going higher than the 95 rating, just because of an over evolution. And yet, I could see this match linguini and mushrooms with truffle shavings in a cream sauce, because its evolved nature did not go as well with the lobster. Many thanks to Randy for this bottle.

December 10, 2021 - Dom Perignon P2/P3 Dinner (New York City): I thought this had more going for it than the P1. A little more age showing in the glass. The flavors more aligned with my preferences. Generally good.

January 17, 2021 - Very nice nose on the flowers, it is a bit the trademark Dom Pé on old vintages.

Big on the palate, with surprising freshness. This wine is not as evolved as the other 1990's that I have drunk (in white champagnes). The juice is intense but precise, because the frame is chiseled, good acidity, big volume, huge finish. He is "royal"! I find a little the immensity of the 1996 Oenothèque. Length ... Superlative !!!

December 24, 2020 - Holding up extremely well. At this point I’d say it’s at its peak. Plenty of baked apple, toasty almond, a touch of honey and caramel.
The flavors are simple, seamless, and refined. But this really shines on the palate. Texturally wonderful, lightly frizzante and balanced acidity makes this a pleasure to drink.
I’m sure this has plenty of enjoyment left, at least 10+ years if stored properly. Wow.

January 11, 2019 - Prefer the palate over the nose. Nose to me was quite honey, toffee, butter crackers, on the palate, it was fresher and more mineral than the nose, with nice modest acidity balanced with generous fruits. 90 was a ripe vintage, oenotheque certainly showed much better than the normal 90 Dom.

January 9, 2019 - A massive step up from the regular 90 dom. Biscuit, grilled nut, breadcrumb and minerals on the nose and palate. Despite the ripe vintage, it had a harmonious balance between fruit and acidity. Very nice.
