May 14, 2016 - HDH auction tasting at Tru; 5/13/2016-5/14/2016 (Chicago, IL): Um... what the heck? This is incredible barbera. So much ripe fruit and density here, with a lovely extra dimension of burnt earth. This is some really special and unique stuff. Really full-bodied, this doesn't have any juicy fruit character, and the acidity here just gives this amazing lift. What a revelation.

May 19, 2013 - Color: Medium/light ruby -> light ruby/garnet rim. Nice bouquet of sour cherries, leather and a little smokiness. Delicious palate that expanded over the course of several hours. A mature, medium-bodied barbera that is still in a great place to drink. Wonderful acidity framing that sour cherry/raspberry fruit.

Held a little back & vacu-vined to try the next day and it had started going downhill slightly so I think the time to drink these is now while it's still at plateau. A pleasant surprise and very nice showing for this wine.

January 26, 2013 - This is an amazing Barbera. We drank it at the bar of a favorite Italian restaurant and had to invite the manager, waiter and bar tender to taste it. Has that "feel" and taste that only comes with age and surprised all of us. The wine looks Inky colored and smells like Forest floor. A mouthful that has a beautiful, silky finish that lasts for 12 plus seconds.

November 11, 2012 - Still love this wine... all ready to drink (in fact... really ready to drink), but plenty of body and fruit left and a nice, "old" Italian Barbera character about it. 9 to go and really looking forward to them. Rated higher last time... but was probably just shocked by how good it is. On the real scale this is more accurate.

September 1, 2010 - Amazing, world class wine. Drank with some friends at local highly rated Italian restaurant and we all were blown away. Rich, complex with a full feel in the mouth. Nose is extra special. Just a fantastic wine.
