  July 18, 2016 - he Botijo Rojo is an explosion of berries, with notes of sweet spices, pepper, and earth attempting valiantly to provide some balance against the onslaught of fruit. A wealth of berries (mostly red) were present on the nose and palate, both fresh and baked - two of the strongest notions I had were of cherry or strawberry/rhubarb pie. Now, that may not make for a complex or outstanding wine, but it can certainly make for a good one! The tannins and acid were fairly moderate, providing for lush and smooth mouthfeel. The lack of any deeper intrigue and near over jamminess of the fruit kept me from pushing this higher rating wise, but for that price it is most definitely worth sipping on.
