March 1, 2024 - Needed about 20 minutes to open up and should've been decanted for sediment, classic red fruit with very slight tannins. Drank over 2 hours and it kept improving.

May 21, 2023 - Winemaker dinner with Giuseppe Vaira (RPM Steak - Chicago, IL): 96/99/01/04. Such a gorgeous and classic Nebbiolo. More red fruited with so much floral and spice intensity. Silky, lithe palate that is singing from start to very long finish.

May 21, 2023 - "Only for Sundays" (Chicago, IL): Wow, truly a stunner. One of my favourite wines tonight. This hits all the hallmarks of 2001 -- that crystalline red fruit and a deep mineral core. I love the balance and resolved tannic texture here. This is a bottle of wine I would love to sit down with and drink; it really meets my ideal of what a bottle of Barolo should be.

January 13, 2023 - Beautiful nose of black tea, pressed roses and pine forest sous-bois. Medium to full bodied and starting to show its age. The tannins have resolved very nicely here and just caress the palate as the acidity keeps it fresh. This is quite mature and probably on the downswing, but still quite good so drink up! 91

September 26, 2021 - Wines at the Farmhouse; 9/11/2021-10/9/2021 (Carlton, OR): Nose: The nose is perfumed and opens up beautifully in the glass after 3+ hours. This is right in that harmonious zone with raspberries, dark red cherries, juniper berries, licorice, roasted herbs, violets, crushed rocks, a touch of ash, tobacco, and rose petals.

Taste: The feel is Full bodied with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. Like the nose, the structure is in a place of harmony and refinement with the feel showing elegant tones of raspberries, dark red cherries, juniper berries, licorice, roasted herbs, violets, crushed rocks, and rose petals.

Overall: This is in a wonderful place. It can certainly age longer and if someone wants more tertiary, then they can hold. That said, I don’t see how this “gets better” from this point as it just brings all sorts of elegance and beauty with a bit of primary fruit to add freshness.
