July 13, 2021 - Sadly, this is my last bottle of this frabjous merlot.

Tertiary flavors are readily apparent, tannins resolved and the density and depths of flavor remain. I think this probably has another few years of joy to give, but I would drink up.

Tasting notes are consistent with past bottles.

So very enjoyable, especially for an "off" year.

Paired tonight with crispy onions and sweet peas from the garden and slow braised duroc pork with charred bell peppers and Vidalia onions. Not too shabby for a Tuesday.

Pulled from the cellar at 55 and decanted for almost 2 hours. I tried a swig pop and pour - definitely decant if you can.

May 11, 2021 - I thought some Blankiet would be a perfect milestone for my 500th tasting note and I was not disappointed. It did take a lot of coaxing to reveal anything pleasing. The wine had a beautifully sweet nose, full of red and black fruits, but it was super astringent and unpleasant on the palate. However, after 2+ hours it started to come into its own and showed great balance, finesse and a long finish. I'm so happy it did and it is a great way to celebrate this milestone. This is fine to hold onto for several more years.

Please give this some time to open up, so that you can experience all its glory.

March 20, 2021 - Served blind, I thought this was right bank 2003. Tomato, parsley and bay leaf, a little stewed red plum, it was still alive and with decent acidity. Just a hint of candied red cherry should have given it away as Napa. Fun blind

March 1, 2021 - Pronounced red fruits with a nose of.leather and some candied violets. Complex, with tannins resolved and still plenty of life. The acidity of the midpalate was reminiscent of a torte pergole 2007 I had last year. Excellent wine to enjoy with rich or earthy foods.

Very enjoyable and at peak. Should be in fine form at least until 2023.

Not nearly as good as the 2003 at its peak or the 2008, 2009 or 2010, but still excellent.

Cork was hard to remove. Very tight. Decanted at 60 degree cellar temp for 2 hours before serving.

Tried with a nub of 70% cacao chocolate from Ghana after dinner. Really nice pairing.

December 27, 2020 - Decanted for 2 hours ahead of dinner but when first opened an intense violet aroma came out which was gone after the 2 hours, a beautiful surprise though. Plummy black raspberry, cassis and leather nose remained, the same intense fruit and leather on palate, perfect balance, long long finish. One of the best wines we have opened in this awful 2020! Served with rack of lamb.

February 2, 2019 - Just opened our first bottle since purchasing it upon release. Certainly worth waiting for. Needed a couple hours of air in a decanter to open up the beautiful dark berry, plum, cassis aromas. Rich full bodied black raspberry, black plum fruit, very smooth tannins and overall perfect balance. A long fruit laden finish ws absent any tannin dryness. In a good place now but will surely last for years.
