January 23, 2024 - Right Bank Bordeaux Tasting: Tasted single blind. Plush, balanced, harmonious. A lovely wine.

January 6, 2024 - So many of the 2005s can be caught at an awkward moment as they weave in and out of accessibility from the time they hit the decanter until the last drop is drunk. Was that the problem with this encounter with the 2005 Figeac? The nose shows coffee and black fruit without offering much complexity yet. It's a little difficult in the mouth, still quite tannic and then not quite showing the finish you'd hope. Not bad, but landing in the 91-93 range with an eyebrow raised. Of course, another bottle caught at a different moment or followed for a suitable period of time might be totally different. It's folly serving most 2005s now to drink for pleasure as you simply can't rely upon them to be open and showing at precisely the moment you'd like.

    January 1, 2024 - Decanted 3 hours.

Black currant, tobacco, spice. The palate was so complex and multi-layered creating an enveloping feeling. Medium + lenght.

Probably not even at peak, long life ahead.

December 16, 2023 - Consistent with past bottles (from a different case). This is starting to hit its stride, and is a lovely, elegant wine.

November 18, 2023 - Upon other TN recommendations, I decanted this for 4 hours. Though there was improvement, this was disappointing. Upon opening, very little to smell or taste. By the last glass, there was tart cherry, hint of leather. I don't think this was flawed but... it sure seemed like an $18 bottle of Bdx. Purchased upon release and stored properly.
