August 24, 2022 - I was never really happy with this wine but I must say, it was much better with the latest bottle. A lot of the heavy earthy tones, dirt. gravel and moss have toned down and some of the fruits have become more prominent, blackberries mostly...I have 1 bottle left and will try it next year.

April 21, 2021 - What a pleasant surprise this bottle was. Given that 2011 was supposed to be a down year not much was expected of this odd bottle. What emerged was a fully mature masterpiece of wine making. Very smooth, layered nuances, penetrating bouquet and a long savory finish. Have no idea how I acquired this bottle but i'm sorry I have no more. (at least I don't think I have additional bottles) Could there be another in the 1500 odd bottles I have in my cellar?? Here's hoping.

December 5, 2014 - We took this BYOB to a steak house and opened it with our starter course and then tasted with our steak entrees. Dark garnet colored, medium to full bodied, the black and blue berry fruits are accented by tobacco and a layer of cedar. A slight woody grassy tone detracted from the fruit. It actually reminded of the red Bordeaux varietal wines they grow up in Southwestern Michigan. If left to age, or open longer, this tone might have burned off but a sitting at dinner did not allow time to do so. My buddy has several bottles so we'll try it again and manage it differently and see if we get a different outcome. Perhaps this was an off bottle?
