April 1, 2022 - Festa del Piemonte: Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC): Big and bright and bold and there does seem to be something about the 60's versions of this wine (my hunch is a bit of barbera but who knows?) that keeps them going. It's fresh and pretty and lots of body and is almost ready from the get go whereas the other older wines needed a bit of time to ease into their place.

August 15, 2020 - Bottle breathe for 2 hours. Classic vintage Barolo. Most fruit already gone but showed strength and medium finishing.

March 17, 2019 - Transparent, but healthy red color, no or minuscule ullage. All classic elements there, intense wine that holds up many hours in the glass, structured, very long and refreshing. Very good match with calf liver and chanterelle risotto.

May 16, 2018 - Dinner with the Barolo Boyz (Officine Brera - Los Angeles CA): Corked

December 4, 2017 - Pours out quite a pale colour but with a lively red tinge. The nose is seriously savoury with notes of meat, teak, porcini, chestnut, tar and earth. With air you get some decaying roses and Indian spice. It is lacy in the mouth with excellent depth of flavour and nice interplay between the sweet vinous flavours and all of the earthy things. Length is outstanding and there's still bright acidity and a gentle flex of tannin.
