June 23, 2014 - “Merlot from a Bordeaux-perspective”-Tasting in June 2014, Flight 1, Wine 1 (blind). The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered a sweet-scented, spicy nose of blackberry, plum, leather, tobacco, cinnamon, liquorice, mint and vegetal/ethereal notes. On the palate the medium-bodied wine showed cherry, young blackberry, young plum, herbs as well as vegetal and ethereal notes, paired with medium-plus acidity, medium-level drying and slightly astringent tannin, and very good length of the slightly bitter finish. The wine seemed to be verging on being a tad underripe.

October 16, 2011 - I was pointed to this as a sleeper, value Bordeaux and found it to be on level with $50+ bottlings, so I think I was given good advice. Classic bordeaux nose of cassis, blackberry and oak, with a touch of vanilla, showing this wine's slightly modern bent. Refined tannins on the concentrated palate, with flavors of dark berries and vanilla.

January 15, 2011 - See previous note. Continues to be an excellent vintage.

January 1, 2011 - Unapproachable at first; opened up nicely after 30 mins; soft palate.

Did not enjoy with crab bisque and crab cake dinner, but had most of it post-dinner anyway.
