December 14, 2007 - A very fine burgundian style Californian. The Wine Spectator is too stingy with its rating.

September 24, 2006 - Interesting. Extremely extracted. Palate driven by nut oil flavors, with a slightly ragged oaky edge. Kind of one-dimensional -- would've been much more enjoyable with some fruit to complement the other flavors. Still, a silky mouthfeel and long finish of 45+ seconds suggests there's something special going on here.
Tasted much better on day 2, having had the benefit of air and a cooler serving temperature. Score reflects an average of both days, and while good (and unique), I don't feel like this is a value for me given the tariff. -

July 16, 2006 - Abe shared this with us after the barrel whirlwind. Light golden color, not oaky. Leesy nose with light citrus. Resolves to mineral and steeliness with lime. A whiff of nuttiness on the front end. A little better warmer to me, it adds some nuttiness and loses the harder steel edge. Quite nice.
