September 4, 2022 - Appearance- Some tawny edges, medium viscosity. Deep ruby color.
On the nose- Spice, blackberry, cinnamon? Green herb of some sort.
Palate- medium body, medium tannins. Medium+ acidity. Spicy introduction followed by dark fruits. Feels less viscous than predicted. Steel taste?
Finish- Reasonably smooth. Taste diminishes after about 10 seconds.

This wine has a particular aspect of nostalgia and personal history as it is from my birth year, and it is the oldest wine I've tasted to-date. My rating may be biased because of this. But for an aged Grand Cru this wine is pretty one-dimensional and not of high quality. The flavors are poorly developed and underwhelming, no layers to explore. Still, I'll be keeping the bottle and the memories of this tasting.

February 10, 2022 - A bit oxidative, cigar box, deep dark fruit, a bit dry on the finish. The 1996 vintage which was not so good on the right bank can't fully hide here.

January 3, 2022 - Blackberry, mulberry, mushroom, barnyard; mature, thick, well-structured, and aged; good presence though only a little fruit remaining; a little tart but good grip, fairly powerful, and a pleasure to drink as a declining claret

November 14, 2021 - Metallic nose with a slightly gamey note, just a hint of fruits here! A little harsh on the palate!

December 28, 2020 - Past it’s prime and fading fast. Thin and funky on opening and recovered some lovely black fruit after an hour decant but not able to overcome sour ending
