    March 11, 2024 - Excellent with restraint….
Stays far clear of a Caymus style

February 29, 2024 - Double decant and started from the start.

Pencil lead, earth, graphite, nose like a fine BDX, hint of bittersweet chocolate, purple fruit, lovely surface tension, the nose was otherworldly leaving me wanting for more.

    However . . .

This was a boozy mess on the palate, still flabby even after an additional 2, 3 and 3.5 hrs of air in bottle. I think there’s fruit and other stuff on the palate, but the booziness and acid overpowers everything and I can’t tell. 15.1 A/C on the label, feels like a round down.

Completely unlike the ‘12s or ‘13s I came to love, or the ‘15 Elysian I had a few years back.

WTF happened here? 98 nose, 78 palate. I hate posting this score on a CT / WB darling, but I’m calling a proper strike zone on this one. I hope this is bottle variation.

August 13, 2023 - Decanted for one hour. Nose of black raspberry, currant, mocha and spice. Black raspberry liquor, mocha, spice and crushed rock combine with fine tannins on the palate. Very long, layered finish. Excellent balance. Full bodied. A very elegant wine. Served with reverse seared strip steak and blue cheese, black truffle butter.

April 23, 2023 - A well-crafted wine where you can taste the skill of the winemaker. Sweet licorice and baking spices dominate the nose and lead you into a sweet, decadent core of brooding dark fruits. Lengthy tannins slowly integrate on the palate with the decadent oak usage to give you a hint where this wine would go in another 5-10 years.

This certainly needs a bit more time in cellar to come together - its a big wine that is not yet ready to show its full depths just yet. Still tastes great with a fatty slab of medium-rare steak though.
