January 28, 2024 - Krug Lover Dinner with Olivier Krug (Daniel Dal Ban 1876 (Tafelspitz) Düsseldorf): not blind, from Magnum
Unbelievable fresh, with bubbles, far away from his peak. Bright colour, almost no aging signs. Yuzu, lemon roll some biscuits. 99-100

March 23, 2019 - Perfect gold colour with surprising effervescence and mousse. The nose starts quiet with marzipan and almond nuttiness but expands and spans white flowers, brown sugar, amazing cappuccino cream, and an orange peel spritz and zest. The palate is in a perfect place right now with rich chewable orchard fruit cut with orange citrus and pleasant acid. The real hallmark of excellence here is the developed cream. Think brown sugar and cinnamon spice but while still delivering so much freshness and crispness, not advanced, not unduly heavy. This is reminiscent of the last ‘85 Mesnil I had and definitely crushes the last ‘85 and ‘88 regular Krug cuvée I had. Near perfect champagne drinking right now. Bottle no° 3928 goes down in spectacular fashion.

January 2, 2019 - Dinner at S.K.Y. (Chicago, IL): From magnum. "Undulations of truffle." The initial whiffs definitely had an intense truffled note. This is a fully mature champagne, at least for my taste, showing completely developed secondary characteristics on the nose and palate. At certain stages, caramel and toffee tones developed, only to go back to the truffle aromas (hence the undulations). The palate is broad and expansive, and definitely classic Krug. However, the effervescence was slightly weak here, and the two hours this was open didn't serve that well. Nonetheless, this was a special and delicious champagne. "Great mouthfeel."

April 10, 2018 - Since the 85 - Cristal just opened was somewhat off, we had this instead, to compensate.
Nose was just exploding out of the glass, so good and so complex!
Loads of stuff showing, with gunpowder and flint, red baked apples, nuts, marzipan, touch of bourbon vanilla, mushrooms and a funky spice mix.
    Amazing and complex, multi layered.
Palate with apple pie, caramel, marzipan, coffee and toffee, honey and candied pears.
Underneath and with time comes layers with truffles, mushrooms, more coffee, flint, tropical fruits, and lovely bread.
A perfect level of oxidative tones wraps the whole package.
    Super length, freshness and acidity.
A great bottle of Krug, I just loved it from the first sniff until the bottle was empty, and as always, you can’t beat this!

January 13, 2018 - Magnum. Superb. Very stylish, fresh, with a spine that beautifully highlights richness of '85.

December 4, 2017 - Caramel and yeast notes are most prominent on the palate with a tiny bitter snap at the backend. Soft lush acid and orchard fruit through the middle but it sits in the back seat to the more oxidative notes. Wine is still enjoyable but in this particular case i'd say drink up.

December 3, 2017 - Much fresher than than the 85 vintage Krug. This had an amazing acidic spine. It showed some of the richness and age of an 85 vintage Krug but the acidity and freshness is what puts this wine over the top.
