March 10, 2023 - Opened two hours before drinking. Quite mute on opening. Did improve a bit after 3-4 hours, but lacks intensity and nerve

November 25, 2022 - There was little hope for this bottle since the ullage was below the shoulder and the cork was like a black sponge that easily pushed down when attempting the pull with a Durand. It's a mere shadow of what once may have been a nice wine but probably never a great wine. It's beyond hope now.

July 23, 2022 - Decanted about 20 min. Color was a deep burgundy, and not cloudy at all. What was really showing the full 52 years of this wine was the nose...clearly this was over the hill, presenting aromas of balsamic vinegar, tobacco and candied fruit. Flavors were VERY muted, but you could detect a touch of that balsamic coming through. A fun experiment for my annual birthyear birthday wine, but not an enjoyable drink. The cork pushing through into the bottle when I tried to open it with the Ah-so should have been a warning.

July 22, 2022 - Very pristine bottle, as good as I've seen of a wine this age. Popped and poured, but gave it about an hour of air with the first glass taken out.

Beautiful color with gemstone clarity, though showing its age as expected. Typical 1970 nose of tobacco, iodine, ash and a tinge of candied blackcurrant. Plenty going on, but obviously in its twilight years.

Pleasing flavor and texture. Quite concentrated. Could do with much more structure though; it feels quite soft and fruit-juicy. The finish is long but the few tannins there are are drying out a bit.

Overall I think this greatly exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't pay a fortune for it, but it offers a lot of pleasure for the $50 I paid for it. Drink ASAP.

November 15, 2021 - Nez leger groseilles, bois exotique... leger en bouche, un peu piquant et acide.
