April 26, 2024 - Dark ruby, youthful appearance. Licorice, violets, taragon, and black raspberry scents with a pleasing high-toned liqueur essence. Rather tangy initial bite that unfortunately predominates the mixed red berry/plum palate, ultimately culminating in a bitter-tinged finish. Best to consume within two hours of opening. This bottle aerated longer than previous one.

March 23, 2024 - Opaque ruby/garnet, incredibly dark. Regal, decadent nose of brown sugar, molasses, soy, black cherry, red flowers, sautéed five-spice. Sings deeply and robustly, and given 45 minutes of aeration, it’s an absolutely intoxicating maraschino cherry redux. Sweet palate of bing cherries and raspberry jam. Not subtle or complex and finishes with a twinge of bitterness but well-suited for rich, densely flavored foods. Nice with savory, cedar-planked salmon.

December 7, 2023 - How is this so different from my last bottle ? This was dark fruits, tannic and so big. Lots of Asian spice and soy sauce. Long finish and grand cru in size.

October 23, 2023 - Popped and poured with 20 minutes in the glass. Huge nose of ripe red and black cherries, cut grass, hint of barnyard. In the mouth it’s fat, with fine dry tannins and a nice finish. Overall the initial impression is of a young, fruit driven wine but slowly starts recalling its layers. However, the structure IMO will not hold more than 5-6 more years. It’s ready.

Rockss and Fruit

(Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru "Clos des Epeneaux") It was eerie how wide open this was. Nose was heavenly with high-toned floral notes, baking spices, big cherry fruit and lots of wet earth complexity. The palate was lovely but a little lighter than I expected. Pure waves of red fruit and mineral with lovely definition and cut. Great acidity and just super wine. Really wide open.

Burgundy-Report

(Comte Armand Pommard Clos des Epeneaux) This year it was 27 hl/ha and an elevage of ~55% new oak. A normal vinification of 28 days (remember those lunar cycles...) including a cold soak followed by pigeages. The nose has depth rather than width. A super palate that's both concentrated and ripe yet well balanced. Very lovely and has a late grab from the tannins just as you're contemplating the finish.
