December 11, 2014 - A blend of Bobal (85%), Cabernet Sauvignon (9%) and Merlot (6%). Macerated with the skins for 21 to 30 days, depending on the variety, in 3000-liter stainless steel tanks and 1000-liter oak barrels. Aged for12 months in oak (15% in new barriques, 35% in barriques of 2nd and 3rd use, 50% in 1000-liter oak casks).

Dark, dense and opaque black cherry color. Rich, brooding and very dark-toned nose with aromas of licorice, sweet oak spice, ripe dark berries and some juicy plummy fruit. The wine feels moderately full-bodied and somewhat bitter on the palate with bold and juicy flavors of ripe dark fruits, succulent plums, roasted and slightly bitter spices, some licorice and a hint of sweet oak spice. The wine is pretty tannic, but only modest-to-medium in acidity. The finish is rich, somewhat warm and quite heavy with bold flavors of ripe plummy fruit, bitter woody spice, some boysenberries and a caramel hint of toasted sweet wood.

A very nice and nicely structured Bobal with lots of power and grip. As the wine feels a bit too modern and oaky for my taste, I found Justina, the entry-level Bobal of De Moya, more enjoyable for current enjoyment. However, this wine shows much more cellaring potential, so whereas Justina might be enjoyable now, I doubt its capability to develop much, whereas this wine can turn out noticeably better with some age. No need to open any bottles of these for the next few years.
