August 3, 2023 - PnP. Color is ruby. On the nose: cherry , strawberry and vanilla. On the palate: Strawberry, cherry, mint and something creamy. A good red for a really hot day (96 degrees today).

June 17, 2023 - The ruby is opening with a brown suggestion. A nose of tobacco, cherry fruit....very bairrada but more elegant if not ultra complex. Médium bodied and well resolved with an elegance rarely seen in Bairrada. Metalic, cherry fruit on the border of unripe, whiff of tobacco, eucalyptus.. The balance is impecable though the finish falls short of lengh and greatness. And although baga has a very diferent profile from Pinot , you can see Dirk loves Burgundy.

October 14, 2021 - Garnet, but only just moving from ruby. The nose is developing nicely, leather and coffee, but with ample ripe cherry. Well integrated, toasty smokey notes. The palate is classic Baga. Firm, grainy tannins and high acidity. Fleshed out nicely with red cherry, strawberry, and a toasty, savoury finish. Fiercely tanninc at first, but softened and opened up after a few hours in the decanter. Drinking very nicely now, but clearly with plenty of life for further cellaring. Fantastic wine from the ever-reliable, ever-curious Dirk Niepoort.

October 14, 2017 - As this was part of a bigger tasting of Portuguese reds, the note is shorter than usual:
almost dark as ink, smells of cherry and coniferous forest, in the mouth cherry, coniferous forest and acidity, in the mouth and aftertaste tannic, young, but good

July 1, 2017 - Pale ruby already turning garnet. Fragrant displaying strawberry, sweet cherry, mulberry and lovely floral scents. Savoury. Feather light and energetic with youthful fruit and a caressing, long aftertaste.
