Community Tasting Notes 7

January 18, 2023 - Coravin fun - Ch. de Beaucastel (My place, Kent Street): Apple, a little gooseberry and asparagus, touch of sweet spice. Juicy, medium plus intensity acidity, fresh crunchy apples, textured tannic burr, a little passion fruit but all in the wild fruit space, creamy almost buttery note, lees work, passion fruit notes grow with time, very good in a blousy way.

February 17, 2018 - Brief notes only, tasted at anual NZ Trade Tasting, London 2015

Big fresh Sav Blanc/Sem blend, long flavours, lovely. Real power. Some complexity going on here. Thrilling North Canterbury white.

RR price £ 18.00.......probably worth it.

August 31, 2017 - Home alone with food and wine (My place, Kent Street): grapefruit and green apple, quite structured and well balanced. Yum. Best match to the risotto

November 10, 2015 - very complex SB with 30% sem, the latter barrel fermented in old french, all lees aged. sweet fruit on the nose, but tasting dry with strong acidity on the palate. passionfruit, grapefruit, blackcurrant, mineral, capsicum. all in nice balance, the acidity perhaps a tad too strong for my taste, but seems to be the house style. enjoyable wine nonetheless, with or without food.

April 20, 2015 - Retailer tasting (Vianen): This is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and barrel fermented Semillon. The wine stays for 12 months on the lees and gets some oak. The result is a wine in which the SB is dominating in the nose and on the palate. Grasses, green apples and good citrus. A round, tasty and full bodied wine with a good length.
