December 18, 2023 - Decanted for one hour in the morning, poured over dinner. 13% ABV. Medium to dark garnet colour, some sediment. Complex aromatics. Red and dark fruit, bubble gum, vegetal notes, cedar, tobacco, spices, some chocolate, and light smoke, with good acidity, unresolved and lightly rustic tannin, and good length. Lightly rustic and slightly underripe, and lacking sufficient juice to counter the unresolved tannin at this point. Benefited from further aeration in the evening. Very different from two stunning bottles I shared with family ten years ago. Might be an in-between phase?

December 31, 2022 - Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Brambles over plums and blackcurrant, biscuit, toast, a little cassis, cream, sweet spice, plenty of polished oak. Lovely nose. Juicy, fleshy, a little herbaceous underpin to the black fruits on the palate, tannins are slightly coarse, flour textured and drying, that polished oak note encroaches with some sweet spice to join the fruit on the finish. Nice

May 23, 2022 - Last bottle in the cellar. Drank three of these in July 2016. One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Some sediment in bottle and the screen. Scarlet bowl lightening to an amber rim with a small clear halo. Nose and taste was consistent with my 2016 notes except a little Bordeaux funk for 30 minutes or so after decant. Lovely wine and a great accompaniment to lamb chops. No need to hold this wine any more; perfectly mature.

May 17, 2021 - Very mature, velvet nose, of ink, cedar, tobacco, chocolate. Medium bodied, fully matured fruit, soft leather, tobacco framed by mentholic and earthy notes, some polish and tar in the background. The palate does not enirely fulfil the promise made by the nose, notably due to acidity, but overall a respectable ageing result.
