September 18, 2023 - Showing its age a bit, but still fine. Earthy and balanced but the fruit starting to fade

June 11, 2023 - Certainly the oldest Chianti I've ever had, and it was absolutely fabulous. A little browning on the rim,but otherwise very dark color. Smooth and refined, light tannins. A wonderful experience

August 25, 2022 - Pop and pour to a ruby color with a thin, tannish rim. Aromas of cherry, blackberry, and a light moss. On the palate I got black cherry, a light licorice, and a nice mushroom almost umami note. Long cherry finish with a medium, balanced acidity. Tannins were a little chalky and got sawdust like on the finish. Definitely more of a food wine, especially dishes with a more rustic and homestyle preparation. We made a quick tomato-based sauce with eggplant and some sausage over pasta and it was a great wine for it.

March 18, 2022 - Ruby body with a touch of amber on the rim. Nose says this is something special; typical mature red scents with a meaty underbelly of dried cherries and bacon with rich glycerin and fennel from a distance. Palate is gorgeous; both transparent yet echoing back subtle dried cherry and dried tomato flavors. My only complaint is the rough sawdust tannins at the end— like it needs a year or two for them to settle out and then, with a decent decant, this will be amazing. I’m no expert in Chianti, but this is pretty awesome to my palate right now. UPDATE: Tasted again a week later and this bottle has way softer tannins and is all figs after I poured into a wide decanter and let it breathe for 30 minutes. Had pizza (not an ideal accompaniment) and it certainly held its own. I think I’d choose saltimbocca so the subtlety of this way has show itself. Beautiful.

January 17, 2022 - From our cellar. Decanted for sediment and drank over 2 hours. Excellent. Beautiful floral nose. Medium-full bodied. Well balanced, smooth, lots of cherry, herbs, leather, balsamic. Nice to sip, but even better with lasagna. I'd drink soon as it didn't improve with air time.
