February 8, 2024 - Sushi Katori: The traditionally hard hitting Grivot style meant that they usually take forever to come round and having only tried the “new style” Grivot in the form of 2022 EP wines, I was intrigued as to how this would perform.
Upon opening of the bouquet, it was clear that stylistically, there is a big difference here. Bouquet opened with stems, macerated cherries, blackcurrants and dark plums. Palate showed persistent fruit concentration with vosne spice, minerals, smoke and juicy red fruits in support of the bouquet. Tannins still pretty grippy, acidity quite crisp and texturally nice but there is a sense of imbalance here in the wine. Perhaps we caught it at a bad time but I am sure that I will be more excited about this “new grivots” in the foreseeable future. -

January 4, 2024 - Spicy nose, slightly stemmy. Noticeable tannins, grippy, good fruit, spicy, mineral. Not completely harmonious, drying finish. (Drink or) keep. 91-93

September 19, 2020 - 41st birthday with the parents (67 Pall Mall): Not as exciting as the first time I tried this a couple of months back - still just as juicy and delicious, but seemed a bit simple and over-friendly when required to follow a mature Nebbiolo.
