February 5, 2022 - Sipping away on this beautiful Condrieu with a little bottle age, straight from the cellar, across the Channel and into the kitchen in London @elnathan. Beautiful balance and honeysuckle flavours

March 14, 2019 - Fermented spontaneously with wild yeasts, aged in new and once used 350-litre oak casks and large barrels on fine lees ofr 10-11 months. 13,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Pale lime green color. Fresh and floral nose with aromas of pear and greengage, some exotic spices, a little bit of white peach, light candeid notes of pear marmalade, a reductive hint of pungent sweat and a touch of smoke. The wine is full-bodied and oily yet relatively lively on the palate with pure flavors of ripe pear, some white peach, a little bit of golden apples, light lactic notes of sourmilk, a hint of exotic spice and a touch of woody bitterness. Despite its only medium acidity, the wine feels surprisingly fresh and precise, not sporting much or any of the heaviness typical of Condrieu, The finish is long, bright and even slightly sappy with flavors of pear, some apple peel bitterness, a little bit of crunchy white fruit, light lactic notes of sour milk and a hint of herbal spice.

A very sophisticated, harmonious and precise Viognier. Typical of variety, the wine is oily and not particularly high in acidity, yet it manages to exhibit quite lovely freshness and energy. I was positively surprised how the wine really doesn't show much oak influence even if it apparently sees some new oak during élevage. Based on the still somewhat lactic qualities, slightly reductive nose and overall very youthful feel, I can recommend leaving the wine in a cellar for at least a few more years - it seems that the wine is till going up and not showing its best yet. Nice!

November 3, 2016 - Blind tasting of wines from Northern Rhône. Very floral bouquet, paired with spicy herbs. Also, quite floral on the palate, with notes of stone fruits, yellow apricots and once again spicy herbs. An oiliness is also slightly noticeable. Well-integrated alcohol meets higher extract, resulting in a somewhat broader and squat mouthfeel. Medium-strong acidity, with acidity being exactly what this wine lacks the most. Medium-long finish. 88-89

Mittellanger Abgang. 88-89
