December 25, 2023 - This has come a long way since my last bottle drunk in 2015. The color is now a lighter garnet with a maturing pink rim. The nose is classic HB (cassis, eucalyptus and tobacco. Maturing sweetness but not the intensity of the best vintages. The breed is evident in this luncheon claret. Elegance personified. It’s not the most impressive first growth or HB I have tasted but it’s an absolute pleasure to drink. Would gladly have five cases in the cellar for what I paid for these on release. Oh well. I just love the style of this Chateau - even without the fireworks of the best vintages. In a good place right now - the tannins have subsided - but this should drink well for another 10 years at least. (93)

November 2, 2023 - To me personally, a real treat and a delicacy, a hidden gem! I'm sure people basically ignore this vintage right now but trust me, this simply offers superb value! A delightful drink, subtle in texture, rich in flavour, full of distinctive characters, vibrant and a long finish! At nearly twenty-five years old, this is shining gloriously at the moment.

July 28, 2023 - Good but not great. Plum, berry, cedar, hint of iodine/salinity. Moderate finish. Rather subdued. Thanks to Christy for sharing.

June 10, 2023 - drunk alongside the 1999 VCC, I much preferred the latter - there has been little or no development I could discern since my last bottle - strangely anodyne, I will leave my last bottle for quite a few years, more in hope than expectation

(Chateau Haut Brion) Very scorched earth nose. Only back one year in the vertical but at least five years in maturity. This stuff is advanced. Nice nose though. All that great Haut Brion stuff plus a hint of early secondary. Cedar and stuff like that. The palate shows some fruit. Red fruits along with complex mineral tones and some oak peeking out. Long and pure. Very good drinking claret.
