  September 3, 2017 - Wow, tons of fruit left in this, even after 29 years.
  
  Amber color, port-ish nose, sweet tongue with *no* tannins. Fruit, sugar and alcohol remain with earthy mushroom-ish overtones. And yet -
  
  My girl and I finished the bottle and wished for more. This was properly cellared the entire time, but even still… extraordinary.

  May 13, 2011 - Popped and poured. More austere than some of the other Rutherfords we have had. No real fruit and some astringency at the back end. Drink these soon.

  February 19, 2011 - Slow starter but after decanting for 20 minutes opened up quite nicely. Cork was in excellent shape.

  June 15, 2004 - Tasting note from memory. I didn't expect much from the 88 Rutherford, but was reasonably impressed. The wine is drinking well now but I don't expect it to be much better. Spicy and medicinal, I recall the finish was harmonious and medium in length. Not a blockbuster by any means, but I would definitely drink another.
