Community Tasting Notes 3

December 12, 2010 - Decanted about 2 hours - mandatory for most Priorat wines. Dark red color. Pungent black currant, cherry, blueberry and spice aromas. Layered black currant, ripe black cherry, chocolate and mineral flavors up front with spice and firm toasty oak tannins (perhaps a little overdone) for a long finish. A very big wine with lots of appeal for fans of Priorat (especially at this price point) and big reds that reach out and grab you you.

February 15, 2008 - Soft edges showing some age, powerful and interesting nose....some dark chocolate and cherries, with some cedar box. the flavor backed up the strong nose - this is a big wine with good depth, lots of fruit, firm tannins, and the length of the finish is above average. it has a bit too much of that cedar/oak component, but i enjoyed it and would have enjoyed it more with food that could have stood up to it more appropriately. i let two glasses sit in the decanter overnight and it has smoothed out a bit but overall characteristics have not changed much in my opinion.

April 30, 2007 - This is an outstanding New World-styled Spanish wine. With a chunky personality, copious amounts of dark fruit, earthy chocolate, and a river of tannins, this wine will stand up and grab you by the throat. The grapes that go into this wine are from a combination of 15-to-50 plus year old vines. If you are a fan of big, bold mountain-style Cabs from Napa, then seek out this relative bargain from a rising superstar in Priorat. An old-vine cuvee is also available for those who want something collectible.
