March 29, 2024 - I have had a number of the older Huet's that were from their library, but this is one of the best "younger" wines I have had from them. Sometimes I find they lack the depth and finish of the best wines, but this is drinking well already and has the acidity and salinity to go for decades. I had this with an Asian style salad with chicken and the sweetness of the wine married perfectly with the spice of the salad. This is clearly a top tier wine.

August 7, 2023 - I am upgrading my opinion of this wine from a year ago and glad to be able to do so . This was much more complete and satisfying than I remember it’s in a good place now.

February 10, 2023 - The Chenin Blanc Moelleux offer an alternative take on sweet wines, I found. Chamomile tea, green grapes and dried apricot as well as a grassy herbal layer constitute the nose. The palate adds quince and honey to the aromatics. The acidity is the more defining feature than sweetness, although the texture was also just a bit creamy. This tastes more like fermented juice than sweet wine. I did not nearly like it as well as I score it, but I appreciate ethe uniqueness and character.

January 15, 2023 - Vinetasters: Loire red (Wilmette, IL): Served double blind. Sweet chenin was a pretty easy guess, with me waffling between a 1ere trie versus ordinary moelleux level of sweetness (that this was Huet seemed obvious enough). I thought that this was a 2002 as this was showing appropriate oxidation for wines at 20 years old. A little shocking at seeing the age. In any case, this has a good amount of botrytis as well as an odd but interesting melon note.

December 27, 2022 - The Le Mont Moeulleux 2015 Première Trie from Huet was a great wine. Delicious, sensual, overly complex and actually quite sweet at 117 grams of sugar, but you didn't notice it. The Chenin Blanc was so balanced, fine in its presence of fresh and candied pit fruit, stone fruit, citrus and ginger. Despite its presence, the wine literally floated across the palate and the bottle was impressively quick to empty, despite the 117 grams.
