February 11, 2024 - Open in bottles for 3 hours then decanted. Just a ridiculously great nose of sinus-filling complexity -- fruits, fig, pine, a touch of menthol, some oak, the scents went on and on. I'd give it 100 points if scoring on just the nose. On the palate, this is a big wine, but so well balanced and smooth that it was a decadent treat. Dark inky color, dark fruits, round tannins, looong finish. Despite it's great depth, it was somehow lifted, not heavy, with a silky mouthfeel. We drank two bottles, the first mostly by itself, the second with grilled vacio and sides. This wine was so profound that I enjoyed it more by itself than with the beef, and that's why I could "only" give it a 97 - it's a solo performer, not an ensemble member. To me, this is a "sip and savor" wine to be enjoyed with very good friends and or loved ones with nothing more than maybe just some crackers to accompany it. I think this is drinking about as well as it can right now; if you have some, I'd open it up in the next two years.

February 10, 2024 - Decanted for two hours. Silky, luxurious feel across the entire palate. Dark fruit like blackberry and plum enhanced with hints of tobacco/leather.

June 29, 2019 - Eight hour decant. Nearly opaque ruby magenta color. Plum, boysenberry, walnut, prune, candle wax and spruce on the rich, subtly aged nose. Plush, velvety, prune-laden palate, with fine/full acidity. Full, round tannins on the medium+ finish.

This is a luxurious wine that is just starting to exhibit signs of age in the nose and palate. It’s likely just beyond its peak for my palate.

August 7, 2016 - Made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Beautiful dark ruby red. Nose is coated in dark berries, dark cocoa and tobacco. Heavy tannins (8/10) and super extracted with dark fruits, some plums, creme de cassis and tobacco. Full and balanced body with a long lingering finish. Drink till 2026.
