Community Tasting Notes 4

  • Vinomane Likes this wine:

December 9, 2018 - Bone dry. On cold opening, nothing but green apple and stone on the nose. Warming in the glass, some nice peach kicks in on nose and palate, continuing to the finish. Peach grows dominant as apple recedes. Acidity holds despite fruit emergence. Minerality now more a stage whisper. On the whole, very present, a sparkling conversationalist with much to say in simple words. Punches above its price tag. Rating reserved until next bottle. Pair with SE Asian cuisine over the next 24 months.

August 3, 2017 - Straw yellow green; fairly ripe nose, some reduction at first, more exotic peach and apple, toasted almond, apricot, honeysuckle, slight honey, dusty mineral in back, white tea; fairly viscous, good acid but not sharp, more rounded and oily in texture, broad, some tart green fruit and citrus come into play, a touch sour and pithy; interesting and complex though I didn't sense harmony in this bottle.

April 30, 2016 - Hints of white pepper, yellow and white stone fruit on the nose - not very intense, a little muted. On the palate much more present and open showing good, expressive fruit, bright acidity and a delicate peppery spiciness. Gently saline towards the long finish. Excellent for Federspiel. 91-93

March 4, 2016 - Explosive notes of green apples, some peach and plenty more apples..., there is also a touch of minerals and spices. Medium-ligher body with good medium+ acidity and a fresh, inviting overall personality. Medium length. A super fresh and pretty Grüner Veltliner with tons of "drink-me"-appeal. Perfect wine for Apéritif. I really like it!
