Community Tasting Notes 6

April 16, 2019 - Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, black raspberry jam, licorice, and bacon fat with subtle allspice notes and undertones of forest floor. Palate: Medium-plus bodied, dark fruit attack, spice driven mid-palate lift, dark earthiness appears in the back-end along with a slight alcohol burn. Finish: Medium length, 30-45 seconds, dominated by spicy dark fruit and earthiness. This does a pretty good job of keeping the 15.4% ABV in check, but sensitive palates will definitely notice it. Personally, the alcohol is just a bit over the top for me, but there is enough complexity and character to make it quite enjoyable.

December 5, 2018 - Nice GSM blend. A little acidic upon opening, but mellowed out on day 2.

September 15, 2017 - Was consumed at a tasting with everyone bringing Rhone style wines, so no formal notes taken.

It is so young, and would definitely give a good few hour decant, as it was showing even more beautifully at the end of the night. Due to its youth, the entry was great, but a little short on the mid and finish, but really think this could pop a point or two with another year or two of bottle age. Amazing perfume nose and was very well balanced, even so young.

The Nicora definitely held its own against some quite formidable contenders, mostly Paso based GSMs and was definitely in the top 3 of the night.

    Nick makes great wines!!
