Community Tasting Notes 5

April 8, 2023 - This is one of the best Oregon Pinots that I have had in some time perfectly stored since purchase. Beautiful dark cherry, Asian spice and some earth on the nose. Palate seemless with sweet dark cherries with excellent structure . Soft tannns persist. Velvet middle that leads onto a long lovely finish. Kudos Winderlea!

    April 6, 2022 - Opened three bottles.

First was beautiful with subtle strawberry notes and classic Oregon Pino profile.

Bottle two was possibly corked and definitely well beyond peak (to the extent we sadly dumped it in the sink) and bottle three was OK but developed notes of raisin I associate with past peak wines.

So, drink up now is my recommendation! Hopefully yours are like bottle #1 and you will have a great experience!

    Cheers!

March 22, 2021 - Light body, not the typical sweetly fruited Oregon pinot. I like the baking spice and incense nose. Palate has ripe strawberry to raspberry with a flash of oak on the finish. Didn’t notice any tannin.

September 3, 2018 - Very Shea. Nice dark red fruit, floral and spice notes and perhaps some hints of dirt/soil; carries the characteristics of the big vintage, but in a pretty restrained Winderlea kind of way. This is good stuff, and certainly seems to be on a path to improve some more over the coming few years.

April 22, 2017 - Tasted with Domaine Serene Two Barns '14 over 2 nights. Strong barnyard/earth bouquet on pnp. Shy flavor but with cherry and some loam, but plush at the same time. Opens with time to broad cherry flavor and finish, with some spice and more force. After 1.5 hours, delicious, with cherry and spice and background sweet wood flavors.
2nd evening - subdued blue fruit nose, very shy and not complex at 1st sip. After 90 minutes, more robust. Cherry is all but gone but still fruit--ripe blackberry? Tasty, with a medium long finish. Wonderful to drink now with air, will likely last at least a few more years in the cellar.
