  Main features:
   The AB grape exists in Portugal for almost 200 years. For a long
  time only 2 producers had the AB planted in Alentejo: Mouchão and Qta. do Carmo but the very old vines of Douro also include AB. Another variety with red juice (teinturier).
   Clay limestone soils in Estremoz. Vey old vines.
   Fermentation starts in marble lagares
   14 months in French new oak
   Nowadays the AB is a strong partner in the blends of Alentejo,
  with the Syrah and Touriga Nacional
   Dark colour, blackberries, dark chocolate. Strong and wild.
  
  Teinturier indeed: this wine is dark as hell. Sweet honeyed prune on the nose. Nose and palate attack feel modern, but thankfully this wine doesn't cross a critical limit. All the same, there are a million things I'd sooner drink than this... just a stylistic preference on my part, though. This is far too inky and dense for me.
