January 3, 2024 - A very strange wine tasting experience.
    Mid shoulder fill.
when I remove the capsule, I find the cork inside the bottle.
The color was quite deep, so it wasn't possible to see this prior to opening.
I decant the bottle just prior to serving thinking that it would have suffered from the "cork failure"
Indeed, the wine seemed so oxidized and past its peak that I didn't even serve the wine but left it in the decanter, with no seal, thinking that it was going down the drain.
I decide to taste it about 20 hours later before disposing of it.
While nowhere near the last bottle, the wine had "recovered" sufficiently that it could now be enjoyed.

August 9, 2021 - Drank three bottles of the VCC 1966 on my 55th Birthday. Removed cork 4 hours before and a quick decant for sediment. Lovely, aged Pomerol nose. A savory complexity and density from age. Three superb bottles of delicious wine that are still going strong in their 6th decade.

July 31, 2021 - nothing much has changed since the bottle last year - extraordinary wine, it must have been a tannic monster at its birth!

July 7, 2021 - From magnum. Number 55…. Cork was intact. Medium body. Lighter burgundy with fading toward the rim. Nose and palate Overblown with green pepper and some black pepper on opening. Not much mid-palate depth or fruit showing. Green blew off with time in the glass, but never did develop much complexity or depth. Interesting wine. Only somewhat enjoyable.

June 16, 2020 - Best showing yet for this wine.
mid-shoulder fill and cork ( like most 50+ year old corks) in sad condition.
    Decanted just prior to dinner.
Excellent clarity, deep color with minimal signs of aging.
Equally fresh aromatics showing great purity, great complexity with the fruit/spice/earthy trifecta. the texture was silky smooth with enough acidity to keep everything bright and (just) enough tannin to hold it all together.
with a good cork, this wine could go considerably longer though it's unlikely to improve from here.
