April 25, 2024 - Few hours glass decant. Tasted next to the Keplinger ‘19 VHR. This was a bit better, 5 year age difference, developed well, complete and bit fuller which my palate loves.
Lots of dark cherry notes, blackberries, ripe plums, dark chocolate, crushed rocks, herbs, tobacco and slight mint.

Tasted next to Kamen ‘18 and my palate loves that even more!
    Cheers!

March 31, 2024 - Even though VHR is on the same Oakville terroir as Mayacamas and Harlin it somehow tastes so different to its cohorts.

This is the first of my 2014s and it was worth the wait, albeit that it still has improvement in it. After a three hour decant it was still a little reserved but gradually opened over the next 2-3 hrs to reveal a dark violet both in color and bouquet. On the palate there’s blackberry, black cherry and a little minerality. As it progressed there was cocoa and a lengthy finish.

December 2, 2023 - 2013 and 2014 tasted side by side. See notes from 2013, but to me this is not as balanced yet as 2013. More fruit on the front end with lengthy 30 second plus finish

    November 23, 2023 - Just amazing.
Drinking great with a long long ways to go. This was the first of six and I may not touch it again for 4-5 years. Lots dark berry fruit, spices (anise, allspice) on the finish.

November 3, 2023 - Beautiful wine. Decanted about 2 hours. Balanced, harmonious with toasted oak, dark berry fruit, spices, fresh tomatoes, mild tar, baker’s dark chocolate and dust. Exceptional structure, good acid, nice tannins on long finish.
