October 26, 2021 - Terroir Tuesday at TDS, A Reunion (Table Donkey & Stick, Logan Square, Chicago): No extensive notes, this opened up beautifully over 2 hours open. Started off with coiled-up citrus, marmalade, pear, and a touch of spice. Over time the palate opened up as well, a beautifully made Bourgogne blanc and typical testament to the quality of 2014's as well as the house's reputation.

September 2, 2021 - Dinner at Table, Donkey and Stick (Chicago, IL): As much a fan as I am of Lamy, this was a relatively weak showing. Has some of the Lamy style; not particularly reduced but with a hint of oakiness. The palate is pretty dilute, but there are some odd flavours here -- iodine and a bit of greenness among them. High acid and thin. Gets the job done but no more than that.

November 11, 2018 - Knightsbridge Annual Holiday Burgundy/Champagne Tasting and Sale (Northbrook, IL): Tasting, brief note. Lean aromas and flavors with lemon, apple. Good weight, good+ length and precision. Good+ value for near-term enjoyment.

August 1, 2018 - The Louvin oak reference is a real puzzle because not prominent at all This is a reminder of just how good Bourgogne Blanc from good producers can be. Needs more time to reach to reach optimum drinking (5 years) but already showing potential. 88 now, a higher score over time.

June 17, 2018 - Nice wine, with good minerality, and very good balance and a medium finish. Crisp, with notes of grapefruit and apple.

  • Louvin Does not like this wine:

April 16, 2018 - For a ‘14 Bourgogne this is extremely large scaled in all aspects. It was the extent of the oak that made this undrinkable for me. Big enough that this could warrant trying in 5 years, though I don’t think I’ll be doing that

April 8, 2018 - Very nice, considerably better than two years ago. Notes of white flower, toasty oak, and apple. Shorter finish. 88-89
