December 5, 2020 - A great Pinot. Good fruit little tannin 7 nearly 8 years old but full of cherries and tobacco smooth and silky a great wine

September 16, 2020 - A dark colour strong tannins and a dry finish palate was dark chocolate and cherry went well with the duck breast and sweet potato

May 30, 2020 - A nice Pinot Noir spice on the nose cherry and dark chocolate on the palate good tannin and was superb with duck as always. The wine has a lingering palate like eating chocolate plenty of flavour plenty of tannin to cut through the fat of the duck a combination made to suit.

August 14, 2017 - A nose of raspberries, black cherries, spice ( anise , cinnamon), herbs, beetroot, and earthiness. Heavy mouthfeel is lightened by medium plus acidity, and medium tannins. A substantial Pinot, but with refreshing acidity . Drink in the next 5 years with rich food .

July 19, 2017 - A bowl full of tart red fruit, herbs, and burnt cedar chips; not overly appealing as such, but I can promise that in wine form the result is something much more pleasurable! This bottle hit on much of what I was hoping for, from cranberry and sour cherry to sage and pepper, finishing full of licorice and smoke. Decanting opened it up a fair bit further, eliciting riper raspberry/pomegranate as well as cinnamon and forest floor. The wine showed a touch of vanilla; fermentation was conducting in primarily neutral barrels, but did involve a small percentage of new oak. A slight tertiary note of leather snuck into the back end, hinting at possibilities for development; hard to say though, owing to the moderate tannins and acidity. Only one way to find out, I suppose! Conclusion - if New Zealand is going to continue producing pinots of this quality and enjoyment level for the price point, count me in! (Postscript: the Estate has noted to me that they do indeed make their Pinot to last - so make sure you buy at least two bottles!!)
