August 1, 2022 - Closed, Took one full hour in the decanter to open. Lots of match sticks with lemon and oak. Reductive style, crisp palate, could be a bit creamier but very racy, 2014 showing its mettle.

February 8, 2020 - Nice color. A lot of mineral on the palate. Everything in good balance.

April 10, 2018 - Still reductive, but this shows great potential. Real energy and potential complexity here. All were impressed with this first taste of their wines. Let rest of another 2-3 years before revisiting.

    March 21, 2018 - 12,5% alcohol.

Luminous lemon yellow color. The nose feels very restrained and unexpressive with nuanced but very light aromas of ripe yet subtly green-toned white fruit, some tart green apples, a little bit of creaminess, hints of complex sweet oak, a touch of perfumed floral character and a whiff of vanilla custard pie. The wine is broad and somewhat concentrated but also very firm and acid-driven with somewhat restrained flavors of steely minerality and wet stones, quinine bitterness, some piercing tart lemony character, a little bit of honeydew melon and a hint of creaminess. Overall it feels that the fruit is pretty much masked away by the pronounced minerality and high acidity. The finish is long and mouth-cleansing with taut, mineral flavors of wet stones, lemony citrus fruits, saline minerality, a ltitle bit of tart green apples, a hint of creaminess and a spicy touch of herbs and white pepper.

A very serious, taut and understated 1er Cru Chassagne Montrachet that feels just too painfully young and also very slightly reductive, further masking away the fruity characteristics. Compared to the La Maltroie 2015 and 2013 that were tasted alongside, this wine offered very little depth and complexity at this point. However, the brightness, structure and sense of concentration here seems to promise much cellaring potential and I wouldn't be surprised if this wine overlived both the aforementioned vintages. Now somewhat understated and backward, but most likely will start to sing after a decade or so - expect the score to go up with age.

March 2, 2018 - La Paulée de San Francisco - The Verticals (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA): Tasting, brief note. 14/13 vertical. Reductive hints. Apple and lemon peel. Very good length, sneaky power, finishes strong. Very good potential.
