Community Tasting Notes 8

February 4, 2023 - This is way too heavily oaked by my impression. Nose and palate show lots of vanilla and tobacco and somewhat over ripe fruit. This seems way different than the previous bottles. I’m rather confounded.

December 12, 2021 - Ruby color, medium bodied. Red fruit that didn’t fall into the strawberry or cherry category for me, along with rose petals and a light touch of sassafrass. Rich fruit balanced by good acidity, then finished a bit savory. Quite complex, especially given my expectations. Paired beautifully with homemade pheasant terrine.

April 30, 2021 - Notes from DISTANT memory. This was way bolder, younger and more modern tasting than I'd expected after having a 2013 last year.

October 12, 2018 - Opened and tasted over about 45 minutes, this had a lovely medium ruby color. The nose was quite expressive from the outset and got more so in the glass with some air, showing earthy, sous bois, strawberry and cherry. It has bright acidity and moderate tannins that seem very refined. The flavors are slightly tart cherry, pomegranate, stony minerals and some spice on the finish. This should have a moderately long life to it, certainly 10-12 years for peak enjoyment, but was certainly great now.

August 30, 2018 - I agree with the notes below and struggle with the score a bit.. 93+.
Aromas of violet purple fruits and crushed stones
Sweet fruit to the darker side of the spectrum, ripe, but not overly so
A little creamy with minor tannins to balance it out
not much heat on a length finish

A sweet & fruity, yet dark & stoney, refreshing treat. My personal preference would be for slightly less sweetness, but still good.
