November 23, 2021 - Slow ox'd for around 90 minutes. Dark crimson color in the glass. This is more of a serious, brooding barbera with lots of black cherry, roasted plum, fig, old dried wood, a bit of sweet baking spice. Very nice. Similar flavors on the palate with a surprising amount of dark red fruit to go along with a little bit of cedar and spice. Just a touch of heat coming through on the otherwise long finish. Medium- acid, medium tannin and body. Very smooth mouthfeel. Really enjoyed this wine and a very different experience compared to most barbera I have had.

August 27, 2017 - This has a more aromatic nose than Vietti's Alba Barbera, but also more structured with higher acidity and a touch 'rougher' in the mouth. Lots more spice too, with less sweetness and fruit. I prefer the Alba. Drink 2025-2035. 89-90pts

May 22, 2017 - Day 1 in Piedmont (Vietti, Prunotto, & Bartolo Mascarello) (Piedmont, Italy): This showed some cherry & strawberry on the nose with bits of oak peeking through. Palate was edgy, showed a bit of oak influence, & offered a fair bit of tannins. Give this another year or so to unwind, but should be an enjoyable wine.
