April 17, 2022 - Gorgeous. You can drink in the nose. Full bodied, still dark in color. Red licorice, dark berries, loamy earth. Hints of nutmeg and thyme. Should pair well with tonight's roast.

March 26, 2022 - Drink now! Floral nose. On the palate that typical Stags Leap power and precision. Decanted foe 25 mins at Olea Restaurant in Newport Beach. Went perfectly well with our steak dinner. Wish we still had more. Impossibile to find any 2013s. Drink now if you have them.

February 28, 2022 - See previous notes.....this bottle was just one step below the previous one but very similar profiles. Great bottle and still hitting on all cylinders. No hurry in my opinion. Still have five at my disposal still left.

July 11, 2021 - Shared with family and friends over dinner at Lawry’s and this may have been the best Stag’s Leap bottle from any producer I have had. Beautiful nose with floral notes along with blackberry. On the palate, a smooth supple and delicious wine with blackberry, blueberry, creme de cassis, and a long lingering smooth finish that left you craving more. Popped and poured and enjoyed over the meal. Every drop was gone in an hour and a half. I brought a few more bottles but felt they would have been left in the dust by this. Exceptional and glad I have a half case still left.

February 17, 2021 - Really love this wine, wish I had more than one bottle. I started drinking after 2+ hours in the decanter and it seemingly improved with each sip. The wine is still young, but has mellowed with 9 years of age to it. I'm sure this will continue to improve as it ages. Dark fruit, oak, licorice, vanilla with floral and mineral notes on the nose. Long finish, 40+ seconds.

Although Hall is in St. Helena, they have produced a 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap. A Châteaux Margaux-ish style of wine, with floral notes intermixed with blueberry, black raspberry, and blackcurrant, the wine has a hint of minerality that adds to the complex aromatics. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, the wine is still an infant but has at least three decades or more of upside potential. The finish is long, rich and reassuring. This is a wine to put away for 4-5 years and drink over the following three decades. Drink through 2051. (RP) (12/2016)
