April 2, 2024 - "There's a lot of fish at Montrose Harbor" (Chicago, IL): Brilliant stuff, with that waxy, funky character right at the forefront. There's a bit of salinity here, and despite the relative lack of fruit characteristics, the acidity on this feels really bright and fresh. No oxidative elements either, and despite that Rioja funk this does feel very clean (paradoxically?). Very good stuff; I wish I had bought these before the prices went to the moon.

February 9, 2024 - 1 of 2. Decanted and served. Aromatic, fumey, orange, spice, lightly oxidative, touch of mint. The odd musty note. Medium bodied, oily, orangey, spice, vibrant acids, long finish. Again, just a slight musty note every now and then suggesting this is not the best bottle, but still very enjoyable.

January 24, 2024 - Incredibly complex and unbelievably youthful- these older gran reservas can be variable but this is exactly where it should be. This had a tiny bit of mustiness (which I often find in LdH) that faded after a couple hours of air. A short decant is recommended if you encounter that and the wine will benefit, regardless.

October 12, 2023 - Full yellow with an orange tint. Fascinating complex aromas of green tea, a hint of fino sherry, and soil. Medium weight, dry, waxy in the sense of Chenin Blanc, vanilla, and bitter citrus. Excellent acidity, and again, a boatload of savory earth. Outstanding and exceptionally fresh for a 27 year old white. This bore a close resemblance to older Savennières.

September 1, 2023 - Lopez di Heredia BYO (@MichaelsPlace): Medicinal and a touch of cabbage on the nose. The palate is extremely intense with green apples, licorice and green olives. Seems extremely young and is a very impressive wine! Amazing.
